The Bill of Rights (Something I Learn)


  1.  Guarantees five basic freedoms: speech, religion, press, assembly and petition. 
  2. Guarantees the right to bear arms and form state militias (small military groups)
  3. Bans the quartering or stationing of military troops in the homes of civilians during peace time.
  4. Prevents unreasonable search and seizure.
  5. Provides the rights of the accused, double jeopardy, and self-incrimination. 
  6. Provides the right to a fair trial.
  7. Guarantees right to jury in civil cases.
  8. Bans excessive bail and punishment.
  9. Guarantees rights retained by the people.
  10. Ensures states rights.
